Schools and early childhood services

test

The healthy habits we learn as children can support lifelong health and wellbeing. The team at Healthy Together Grampians Goldfields is working closely with local schools and early childhood services to support good health where children spend much of their time.

All local schools and early childhood services can register for the Healthy Together Achievement Program and begin working towards creating a healthier environment for children and their families.

Once registered, schools and early childhood services will be supported by the Healthy Together Grampians Goldfields team with best practice case studies, data and evidence, guidance on embedding health and wellbeing into the curriculum, tips and tools on engaging staff, families and children, policies and template, links to health professionals, services and the wider community and resources and promotional activities to support their work.

Local schools and early childhood services can also access the Healthy Eating Advisory Service to find out how they can best support children’s nutrition.

This not only supports the health and wellbeing of staff, but also provides benefits to businesses through increased productivity and staff loyalty.

Once registered, local organisations will be supported by the Healthy Together Grampians Goldfields team with best practice case studies, access to guest speakers on priority health topics, assistance in creating an engaging work health program, links to providers and assistance identifying employees at high risk, and access to research, support, policies and assessments.

Local organisations can also access the Healthy Eating Advisory Service to find out how they can best support healthy eating and nutrition in the workplace.

Communities

test

There are plenty of ways that you can get healthier in your local community - from eating more fresh fruit and veg to taking some time out to go for a walk.

Here are some good ideas to get you started…

Local markets are a great source of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables.  Why not check out some of these markets – you’ll be supporting the local community as well as providing your family with some of the best produce available!

Community gardens are places where people can come together to grow and share fresh produce, to learn, relax, reflect and make friends.  Community gardens can also allow space for art, celebration and solitude.

In the Central Goldfields and looking for a new activity to get you out and about? Check out our local facilities.

In Ararat and needing inspiration? Have a look at the range of opportunities available, from swimming or taking the kids to the nearest playground.

In Pyrenees Shire and don’t know where to start? Keep an eye on our events list for more ideas!
